Pest Control in White Hills, Shelton
White Hills is one of the oldest parts of Shelton and still the most rural, even as more of it fills in with newer homes. It sits between the Housatonic and the Monroe line, with Leavenworth Road and Shelton Road along one side and Beardsley Road to the north. Jones Family Farms and East Village Park are the local landmarks most people know.
Lots are bigger here than downtown or in Huntington, and many homes sit well back from the road with a shed, a barn or a detached garage nearby. Old farmhouses on stone foundations sit near postwar ranches and newer colonials built on former farmland. Fields next to woods mean plenty of deer, mice and chipmunks, and the long stone walls along the old property lines put all of them within a few steps of the house.
Stone walls, mowed paths and yellow jackets
Bigger yards mean more edge between lawn and woods, and the edge is where ticks wait. Many families here set up tick spraying for the lawn edge and the stone walls from spring into fall. The newer homes often back right onto fields or woods, with fresh mulch beds and decks facing the tree line, so they get just as much of it as the farmhouses do.
Yellow jackets nest in the walls and in the ground along mowed paths, and running the mower over a nest is how a lot of people here find one. Nest removal near the mowed paths is a regular late-summer call. Carpenter ants come in from woodlots and old stumps too, so spring often means tracking the ant nest back to the tree line. Our guide to ticks in Shelton yards explains why the stone walls matter so much.
From the field to the shed to the basement
Mice move out of the fields and into sheds, garages and basements as fall arrives. Stored feed, birdseed and grass seed draw them in. Rodent control for outbuildings and basements works best when the shed and the house are handled together, with traps or locked bait stations and sealing so they don't simply move next door. Newer houses aren't immune. Fresh construction next to a field often has gaps around utility lines and the garage door that nobody ever sealed.
If you keep chickens or horses, or have a vegetable garden, say so when you call so the products and bait placement can be planned around them. White Hills runs west into wooded Monroe, and the same mix of woods and walls carries south toward the older streets of Huntington.

Questions We Get
Will they treat a bigger rural property?
Yes. Tell us roughly how big the lot is and what's on it, like a barn or sheds, so the tech can plan the visit and give an accurate price.
What about mice in a detached garage?
Outbuildings are a common starting point. Treating them along with the house keeps the mice from just moving over.
